Construction software in Quebec: how to read this comparison
💡 Transparency: this article is written by the SubmitX team, so we are both judge and party. The facts about each software come from its public pages (pricing, features, languages) viewed on October 26, 2026. "Not published" means absent from those pages that day, not non-existent. A mistake? Write to support@submitx.ca and we will correct it.
There is no single good construction software for everyone. A three-person roofer, an electrician who mostly does service work and a general contractor who bids on SEAO do not have the same needs. So we grouped the tools by type rather than ranking them from first to last.
For each software, we give three things: what it does according to its website, its price as published (with the currency when stated) and the language. When a page shows the $ symbol without specifying USD or CAD, we say so. Prices change often: always check the vendor's page before signing. Our own method is described on the Comparisons page.
Criteria specific to Quebec
- Language: French interface for crews and French documents for clients.
- CCQ payroll (Commission de la construction du Québec): rates by trade and by sector, revised every year (see the 2026 CCQ rate calculator).
- GST and QST on quotes and invoices (see GST and QST on a quote).
- Holdbacks and progress billing when your contracts provide for them.
- SEAO if you target public contracts (see the SEAO guide).
- Data hosting and subprocessors, to be assessed under Law 25 (Quebec's privacy law).

Which construction software for which profile?
You work alone or as a pair and mostly do quotes
- A simple tool with a published price: Elper (Soumission plan), Vantage, Sercom, or the SubmitX Free plan.
- If detailed estimating is the core of your trade: Evalumo, STACK or Buildxact.
You mostly do service work (plumbing, HVAC, electrical)
- In French: ProgressionLIVE or Sercom, designed for dispatching and work orders.
- Comfortable in English: Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan.
SMB of 4 to 25 people with CCQ crews
- A tool that brings together quotes, job site and CCQ payroll: SubmitX or Constructo AI.
- Keep accounting in Acomba, QuickBooks Online or Sage 50 if you prefer: many tools connect to them.
Established company or large projects with many parties
- Proven accounting ERP: Maestro ERP or Acomba Construction.
- Multi-company collaboration: Procore or Autodesk Build; for the field alone, Fieldwire.
For a detailed profile, see our alternatives pages: Procore, Buildertrend, Jobber, ProgressionLIVE, Maestro ERP, Acomba.
How to test and choose without making a mistake
List your 3 real pain points
For example: quotes too slow, CCQ payroll done by hand, late invoices. Eliminate any software that does not solve at least two of the three.
Calculate the cost over 12 months
Add up subscription, users, active employees, activation or training fees and taxes. Convert USD prices at your card's rate.
Test with your real files
During the trial, redo 5 to 10 recent quotes and a payroll. It is the only way to see whether the tool holds up.
Ask the tough questions
Where is the data hosted? How do I export the whole account? What happens if I cancel? Ask for the answers in writing.
Plan the migration
Clients, price list, employees and subcontractors can often be imported by Excel or CSV. Plan a period where the old and new tools coexist.
SubmitX offers a permanent Free plan and a 7-day trial of paid plans with no card (Pricing). The AI can make mistakes: every generated quote remains a draft that you review before sending. Our limitations are listed plainly on Pros and cons.
