What Autodesk Build (Forma Build) does well
💡 Transparency: this article is written by the SubmitX team, so we are both judge and party. The facts about Autodesk Build come from Autodesk's public pages (pricing page, FAQ, help centre, news) viewed on October 26, 2026. A mistake? Write to support@submitx.ca and we will correct it.
A word on the name. Autodesk's FAQ states that "Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is now part of Autodesk Forma" and that product names have been updated. The product's "Buy" page now refers to Forma Build, and the old Autodesk Build product page redirects to the Forma Build page. If you are searching for "Autodesk Build", it is the same product.
Forma Build is a very complete platform for construction project management, especially when several firms work together. Its help centre (viewed on October 26, 2026) lists these tools, among others:
- Sheets (plans), files and specifications, at the heart of the platform.
- Issues, forms, photos and reports.
- RFIs, submittals, meetings and correspondence.
- Schedule, assets and cost management, as well as Insight (dashboards).
- A mobile app (Forma Mobile App) and an AI assistant ("Autodesk Assistant in Forma").
- A link with the Autodesk ecosystem: the pricing page bundles Forma Build with other products (model coordination, Navisworks, BuildingConnected, ProEst, Forma Takeoff) in packages.
For a firm that already works with Revit, Navisworks or BIM models from architects and engineers, this continuity is a real advantage. SubmitX does not have this BIM depth: it targets business management (quotes, CRM, projects, invoicing, CCQ payroll, SEAO monitoring).
Pricing: on quote at Autodesk, on request at SubmitX
Autodesk does not publish the price of Forma Build. Its pricing page (construction.autodesk.com/pricing, viewed on October 26, 2026) presents three packages (Model Management, Preconstruction, Construction Operations) with "Get a Quote" buttons. It mentions flexible pricing "per user, per project or per account" and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The FAQ adds that some subscriptions are based on the number of sheets and that a free trial exists. We therefore quote no amount: ask Autodesk or a reseller for a quote.
SubmitX provides its prices on request, depending on the plan (Pricing): Free (1 user, permanent), Starter (up to 3 users, 100 AI credits per month), Pro (up to 25 users, 300 AI credits per month), Ultra beyond 25 users. 7-day trial with no credit card. No mandatory implementation fees; a full migration by our team is offered as an option (price on request).
Language, Quebec and data regions
Language. According to Autodesk's FAQ (viewed on October 26, 2026), Forma Build is offered in English, Japanese, Spanish, French, Canadian French, Dutch and German. That is a good point for a Quebec team. SubmitX is designed French first, with English supported.
Data. The FAQ states that a data centre in the United States and one in Europe are offered, and that others will be added. An official Autodesk news release dated April 16, 2024 also announces project data storage in Australia. On the official pages we viewed, we found no mention of a Canadian region for project data (checked on October 26, 2026); if this is a criterion for you, ask Autodesk. SubmitX's database and files are hosted in Canada (AWS, Montreal); some SubmitX subprocessors are in the United States (AI, application hosting, payments, emails), listed in our security FAQ.
CCQ payroll, GST/QST and SEAO
Forma Build offers a cost management module. However, we found no mention of CCQ payroll, QST or SEAO monitoring on Autodesk's official pages viewed on October 26, 2026. A Quebec company that uses it generally handles its payroll and accounting in other software.
SubmitX includes CCQ payroll, mobile timesheets, automatic GST (5%) and QST (9.975%) in quotes and invoices, progress billing with holdbacks, QuickBooks Online sync, Acomba and Sage 50 exports, and SEAO tender monitoring. To estimate labour, see the 2026 CCQ rate calculator.

Autodesk Build or SubmitX: who is each one for?
Autodesk Build (Forma Build) is a better fit if…
- You run large projects with architects, engineers and many subcontractors who must share plans, RFIs and submittals.
- You already use Revit, Navisworks or other Autodesk products and want to stay in the same ecosystem.
- Your budget allows for a licence on quote and implementation time.
- Your payroll and accounting are already handled elsewhere.
SubmitX is a fit if…
- You are an SMB (1 to 25 users) that wants a permanent Free plan and a self-service start.
- You want quotes, projects, invoicing, CCQ payroll and SEAO monitoring in the same software, in French.
- Your projects do not require advanced BIM coordination.
- You accept a young company (public launch in June 2026), with few independent reviews, and an AI that can make mistakes: every generated quote must be reviewed before sending.
Both together?
A subcontractor invited onto Forma Build by a general contractor can very well use it for that project and run their own company (quotes, invoices, CCQ payroll) in SubmitX. Autodesk's FAQ states that subscribers can invite new users to participate in their project. There is no direct integration between Forma Build and SubmitX at this time.
