Fieldwire vs SubmitX: field management or complete management software for a Quebec contractor in 2026?

Fieldwire, part of Hilti Construction Software, is a field management app focused on plans, tasks and deficiency lists. SubmitX is complete management software for Quebec contractors, from quotes to CCQ payroll. Here are the verified facts, the prices, and the situations where one, the other or both make sense.

What Fieldwire does well

💡 Transparency: this article is written by the SubmitX team, so we are both judge and party. The facts about Fieldwire come from its public pages (website, pricing page, Trust and security page, App Store listing) viewed on October 26, 2026. A mistake? Write to support@submitx.ca and we will correct it.

Fieldwire's website presents it as the place where the whole project team collaborates and shares information in real time. It states that it is part of Hilti Construction Software ("Fieldwire by Hilti"). It is a tool specialized in field execution, very strong on plans and tasks. Its verifiable strengths:

SubmitX does not try to be an equally advanced plan viewer. It covers business management: AI-assisted quotes, CRM, projects (Gantt, tasks, RFIs, change orders, daily reports, photos, deficiencies), invoicing, CCQ payroll and SEAO monitoring.

Fieldwire and SubmitX pricing

According to Fieldwire's pricing page (fieldwire.com/pricing, viewed on October 26, 2026), prices are shown in US dollars by default, per user per month, billed annually:

Fieldwire planPrice shownLimits and additions
Basic$05 users, 3 projects, 100 sheets; plans, tasks, specifications, files and photos, checklists
ProUS$39 per user/month (annual)Unlimited projects and sheets; reports and exports, sheet comparison, project templates
BusinessUS$64 per user/month (annual)Custom forms, integrations, BIM viewer
Business PlusUS$89 per user/month (annual)RFIs, submittals, change orders, budget
Custom contractOn requestUnlimited users, API, single sign-on (SSO), training

A monthly or annual toggle exists, but monthly prices for the paid plans did not appear in the content we viewed. The page does not mention a trial length for paid plans. Example: a team of 6 people on Business Plus comes to 6 × US$89 per month, billed for the year, before conversion and taxes.

SubmitX provides its prices on request, depending on the plan (Pricing): Free (1 user), Starter (up to 3 users), Pro (up to 25 users), Ultra (25 users and more). 7-day trial with no card on paid plans.

Language, Quebec and data hosting

Language. Fieldwire has a French website (fieldwire.com/fr) and its Canadian App Store listing (viewed on October 26, 2026) shows "French and 20 more". For a Quebec team, this is a real strength. SubmitX is designed French first, with English supported.

Data. Fieldwire's Trust and security page mentions SOC 2, SOC 3 and ISO/IEC 27001, but we did not find the data hosting region there (checked on October 26, 2026); ask Fieldwire if this is a criterion for you. SubmitX's database and files are hosted in Canada (AWS, Montreal); some SubmitX subprocessors are in the United States (AI, application hosting, payments, emails), listed in our security FAQ.

CCQ payroll, GST/QST and SEAO

Fieldwire offers timesheet forms and a budget module (Business Plus). However, we found no mention of CCQ payroll, GST/QST, client invoicing or SEAO monitoring on its official pages viewed on October 26, 2026. It is not its niche: Fieldwire focuses on field execution.

SubmitX includes CCQ payroll, mobile timesheets, GST (5%) and QST (9.975%) calculated automatically, progress billing with holdbacks, QuickBooks Online sync, Acomba and Sage 50 exports, and SEAO monitoring. For your labour costs, see the 2026 CCQ rate calculator.

Fieldwire or SubmitX: who is each one for?

Fieldwire is a better fit if…

SubmitX is a fit if…

Use both?

For a general contractor whose superintendents live in the plans, keeping Fieldwire on the job site and using SubmitX for quotes, invoicing and payroll is a logical combination. There is no direct integration between the two at this time: RFIs and change orders should then live in only one of the two tools to avoid duplicates.

How to compare and test

1

Separate the job site from management

Write down what happens on the job site (plans, tasks, deficiencies) and what happens at the office (quotes, invoices, payroll).

2

Test Fieldwire with the Basic plan

Set up a real project with your PDF plans and have a foreman use it for a week.

3

Test SubmitX with real quotes

The 7-day trial requires no card. Import clients and prices as Excel or CSV (free) and prepare 5 to 10 real quotes.

4

Calculate the real annual cost

Fieldwire: number of users × annual price in USD, converted to CAD. SubmitX: plan price in CAD. Add taxes in both cases.

5

Decide where RFIs live

If you keep both, choose a single tool for RFIs and change orders.
