Simpro in Quebec: overview and what it does well
💡 Transparency: this article is written by the SubmitX team, so we are both judge and party. The facts about Simpro come from its public pages viewed on October 26, 2026 (list of sources at the bottom of the page). See an error? Write to support@submitx.ca and we will correct it.
According to its "About Us" page, Simpro was born in 2002 from an electrical business owner teaming up with a software engineering student; its international headquarters have been in Miami (Florida) since 2025. Simpro is part of Simpro Group, which also includes AroFlo, BigChange and ClockShark. It targets electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, security, elevators, solar and other trades.
What Simpro does well
- Service AND projects: its pricing page lists service call management, project management, equipment maintenance, work orders and timesheets.
- Materials and purchasing: real-time inventory, supplier catalogues and price comparison, purchase orders, equipment management.
- Invoicing suited to contracts: recurring invoices, retainages (holdbacks), work-in-progress (WIP) and profit reports.
- Useful optional modules: quantity takeoff on plans (Takeoffs), digital forms, maintenance planner, vehicle GPS tracking (Simtrac), SMS.
- Accounting integrations: QuickBooks, Xero, Sage and MYOB, plus an open API.
- A presence in Canada: the site offers Canada in its region selector and states local teams in the United States and Canada, with support 24 hours a day, 6 days a week.
How much does Simpro cost?
According to the Simpro Pricing page, viewed on October 26, 2026, the offer consists of a base plan ("Base Plan") and optional modules. No price is published: each block leads to a "Request Pricing" button. We found no amount, no currency and no quantified implementation fees there. The page mentions training, implementation and professional services.
To get a real price, you therefore have to talk to the sales team. Ask in writing for the price per user or per technician, the currency, the commitment length, the cost of implementation and the price of each module (Takeoffs, forms, GPS, SMS).
At SubmitX, prices are given on request (Pricing page), depending on the plan: Free, Starter (3 users), Pro (25 users), Ultra (25 users and more). No mandatory implementation fees; a full migration by our team is offered as an option (price on request).
Simpro in French? Language, Quebec and data
We found no mention of French (interface, client documents or support) on Simpro's official pages viewed on October 26, 2026. The site is in English.
Worth noting: on August 31, 2026, Simpro Group announced the opening of a research and development centre in Montreal, dedicated to the AI layer of its Lightning platform, with up to 100 jobs planned over two years. The press release talks about AI research, not a French version of the software.
Hosting: Simpro's official status page (status.simprogroup.com) shows separate "Canada" components for Simpro Premium, the mobile app and the API. We did not find a page that specifies the exact location of Canadian customers' data: ask for it in writing if it matters to you.
SubmitX is designed in French first (English offered). The database and files are hosted in Canada (AWS, ca-central-1 region, Montreal); the list of technical subprocessors located in the United States is published on the Security page.
CCQ payroll, GST/QST and SEAO
- Payroll: the pricing page lists timesheets and employee management, but we found no mention of a module that runs payroll itself (verified on October 26, 2026).
- CCQ: no mention of the CCQ or of Quebec's construction collective agreements.
- GST/QST: we found no mention of QST on the pages viewed.
- SEAO: no mention of monitoring Quebec public tenders.
A Quebec electrician or plumber whose employees fall under the CCQ will therefore probably need to keep another tool for payroll and the monthly report. SubmitX includes CCQ payroll, GST (5%) and QST (9.975%) calculated automatically, contract holdbacks and SEAO monitoring. The 2026 CCQ rate calculator gives the rates by trade and sector.
