CompanyCam vs SubmitX: job site photos or complete management software, which to choose in Quebec in 2026?

CompanyCam is a job site photo and documentation app, known for its simplicity in the field. SubmitX is complete management software for Quebec contractors, from quotes to CCQ payroll. Here is what each one does, with verified prices, and when it makes sense to use one, the other or both.

What CompanyCam does well

💡 Transparency: this article is written by the SubmitX team, so we are both judge and party. The facts about CompanyCam come from its public pages (website, pricing page, App Store listing) viewed on October 26, 2026. A mistake? Write to support@submitx.ca and we will correct it.

CompanyCam presents itself as a job site documentation platform: take photos, track progress and collaborate on tasks. It is a specialized tool, and it is very well built for that role. Its verifiable strengths:

In other words, if your main problem is "we lose our job site photos in employees' phones", CompanyCam answers that need directly. SubmitX covers complete business management: AI-assisted quotes, CRM, projects, invoicing, CCQ payroll and SEAO monitoring. The two do not target exactly the same problem.

CompanyCam and SubmitX pricing

According to CompanyCam's pricing page (companycam.com/pricing, viewed on October 26, 2026), prices are in US dollars (USD), billed annually:

CompanyCam planPrice shownUsers
CoreUS$63/month, billed annually1 included (limit of 2), US$29 per additional user
CrewUS$119 or US$129/month depending on the visit, billed annually3 included, US$29 per additional user
ScaleUS$199 or US$249/month depending on the visit, billed annually3 included, US$29 per additional user
EnterpriseBy discussion ("Let's Chat")50 and more

The page states that annual billing saves 20% compared with monthly, but monthly prices did not appear in the content we viewed. A Marketing Suite module (Google reviews, social posts) is offered as an option. A free trial is offered, but its length is not stated on the page. The amounts include neither the exchange rate nor Canadian taxes.

SubmitX provides its prices on request, depending on the plan (Pricing): Free (1 user, permanent), Starter (up to 3 users, 100 AI credits per month), Pro (up to 25 users, 300 AI credits per month), Ultra (25 users and more). 7-day trial with no credit card on paid plans. There are no per-seat users: each plan has a cap.

Language, Quebec and data hosting

Language. CompanyCam's Canadian App Store listing (viewed on October 26, 2026) lists a single language: English. The help centre is offered in English and Spanish. We found no mention of a French interface on the official website. SubmitX is designed French first, with English supported.

Canada. The pricing page states that invoicing, the price list and proposals are offered to businesses based in the United States and Canada, while on-site payment collection is reserved for businesses based in the United States.

Data. CompanyCam states that photos are stored securely in the cloud and encrypted in transit. We found no published hosting region. SubmitX's database and files are hosted in Canada (AWS, Montreal); some SubmitX subprocessors are in the United States (AI, application hosting, payments, emails), listed in our security FAQ. In both cases, Law 25 (Quebec's privacy law) requires you to assess transfers of personal information outside Quebec.

CCQ payroll, GST/QST and SEAO

We found no mention of the CCQ (Commission de la construction du Québec), payroll, QST or SEAO on CompanyCam's official pages viewed on October 26, 2026. This is not surprising: it is not its niche. For these needs, a company that uses CompanyCam generally relies on other tools (accounting, payroll, tender monitoring).

SubmitX includes CCQ payroll for Quebec construction trades, GST (5%) and QST (9.975%) calculated automatically in quotes and invoices, sync with QuickBooks Online, Acomba and Sage 50 exports, and SEAO monitoring of public calls for tenders by trade and region. What if you combined the two?

It is a reasonable option. A team very attached to CompanyCam for its photos can keep it for the field and use SubmitX for management. Be aware, however, that we have no direct integration between the two: the link is made by hand (link or export). Before adding up two subscriptions, check during the free trial whether SubmitX's project photos and job site reports are enough for your crews.
