Cactusoft Construction: overview and what the software does well
💡 Transparency: this article is written by the SubmitX team, so we are both judge and party. The facts about Cactusoft come from its public pages (home, toolbox, FAQ, about) viewed on October 26, 2026. "Not published" means absent from those pages on that date, not non-existent. A mistake? Write to support@submitx.ca.
Cactusoft was founded in 2008 by Pierre-Luc Champigny and Bryan Ménard. The software was first developed for more than 10 years with one main client, Échafauds Plus, then commercialized from 2019 under the name Cactusoft Construction, with the support of Groupe Omega II. The company is in Laval. It presents itself as a job site management application, and states itself in its FAQ that it is not an ERP.
The strengths we can verify
- Detailed job site scheduling: assignment of workers based on their skills, seniority and availability, prevention of double assignments, management of equipment and machinery in the schedule, schedule publishing.
- Digital time clock: timesheets, "flexible punch" that keeps the actual punch time, interactive job site map, custom forms (daily report, expense report).
- CCQ payroll preparation: CCQ (Commission de la construction du Québec) rules and agreements built in and updated, custom rules for work outside the decree, calculation of hours, double time, mileage, premiums and pensions, review before processing in your accounting software.
- Optional geolocation that respects CCQ rules: the CCQ worker chooses whether to share their position.
- Offline mode to punch without a network, iOS and Android apps, French and English.
- Support: business analysts, personalized training plan, videos on YouTube.
For a company with more than 20 field employees that mainly wants to make schedules, hours and CCQ payroll reliable, it is a specialized tool that has matured in the field.
Cactusoft and SubmitX pricing
Cactusoft does not publish amounts. According to its FAQ (viewed on October 26, 2026):
- Pricing is monthly and based on usage: each user active in the month is billed, at the same rate regardless of their role.
- There is no minimum number of users, but there are minimum monthly fees that include 20 active users.
- The application is offered in full (no purchase by feature).
- Cancellation terms depend on the subscription contract; "fees may apply in case of cancellation before the end of the planned contract term".
- Implementation generally takes 4 to 6 weeks; implementation packages and training hours are purchased.
- The price is obtained through a personalized quote, after a demo.
SubmitX provides its prices on request, depending on the plan: Free, Starter (up to 3 users), Pro (up to 25 users), Ultra beyond 25 users. Monthly plans, 7-day trial with no card, no mandatory implementation fees. See Pricing.
Language, Quebec and data
Cactusoft is developed in Quebec and offered in French and English. On the pages we viewed, we found no information on where data is hosted.
SubmitX hosts its database and files in Canada (AWS ca-central-1, Montreal); some subprocessors are in the United States, with the list published. Employee positions are only visible with the company's setting and the employee's consent. See the security FAQ.
CCQ payroll, quotes, GST/QST and SEAO
- CCQ payroll: this is the heart of Cactusoft, which prepares CCQ and outside-the-decree payroll calculations, then leaves processing to your accounting or payroll software. SubmitX also includes CCQ payroll, with mobile timesheets.
- Quotes and invoicing: we found no client quoting or invoicing module at Cactusoft (checked on October 26, 2026). SubmitX covers the quote (with AI to review), client signature, the invoice, progress billing, GST/QST and online payment.
- SEAO: we found no mention of SEAO at Cactusoft. SubmitX sends alerts on new public calls for tenders (learn more).
- AI: we found no AI feature on Cactusoft's pages.
- Integrations: the Collaborators page says Cactusoft is "compatible with your accounting software" and shows the Avantage logo from Acceo; the FAQ invites you to submit an integration request. SubmitX syncs with QuickBooks Online and exports to Acomba and Sage 50.
